The Cat’s Cradle Collective

… is a chamber orchestra that takes its name from one of the oldest games in recorded human history - the cat’s cradle. It was created by António Sá-Dantas—it’s artistic director and conductor—and Maren Bosma—it’s leader and violinist.

Using simply one string - alone, in pairs, or in groups - across times and cultures, humans have created figures, invented stories, and let their imagination soar.

As a collective, we aim to create musical performances based on that sense of intimacy, timelessness, playfulness and freedom of imagination. Curated by the chamber orchestra’s conductor António Sá-Dantas, the Cat’s Cradle Collective brings together music from different styles, written and arranged for chamber orchestra, into unique performances that go beyond any concert.
