António Sá-Dantas conducted for the first time in 2018, when asked to conduct a mass he composed for the monastery of St. Lambrecht in Austria.

Later on he achieved his degree in orchestra conducting from the Kunstuniversität Graz, while finishing his degree in composition, in the same institution, as well. He went to conduct multiple amateur choirs and orchestras, as well as working with individual professional orchestras.

Since living in London, he now is the principal conductor of the Cats’s Cradle Collective—a chamber orchestra he co-created with Maren Bosma and of which he is also artistic director—; as well as the Voyage Ensemble—a group dedicated to exploring experimental film music.
