Thameside Harmony Chorus

Thameside Harmony Chorus is a female a capella four-part harmony group. The choir sings a variety of repertoire, some in the barbershop tradition, some from the pop or musicals world and some are simply classic songs of their time. The group started back in 1986 and they still have one original member in their midst! António Sá-Dantas has been their musical director since January 2024.

The chorus rehearses every Wednesday evening in the Hampton Methodist Church. If you would like to try our barbershop join in November: the choir will be holding a 4-5 week course where you can learn to sing simple Christmas-themed songs in barbershop style. Justcontact us at admin@thamesideharmony.org.uk.

We will Rock you

Queen

Buddy, you're a boy, make a big noise

Playin’ in the street, gonna be a big man someday

You got mud on you’ face, you big disgrace

Kicking your can all over the place, singin'

We will, we will rock you

We will, we will rock you

Buddy, you're a young man, hard man

Shoutin’ in the street, gonna take on the world someday

You got blood on your face, you big disgrace

Waving your banner all over the place

We will, we will rock you

We will, we will rock you

Buddy, you're an old man, poor man

Pleading with your eyes, gonna make you some peace someday

You got mud on your face, big disgrace

Somebody better put you back into your place

We will, we will rock you

We will, we will rock you

In the Summertime

Ray Dorset (Mungo Jerry), New lyrics: UCS

In the summertime when the weather is high,

You can stretch right up and touch the sky

When the weather’s fine, I got swimmin’, I got swimmin’ on my mind

Have a dip, make a splash, dive right in you know the water’s fine.

Have a drink, have fun and relax by the pool,

Drive down to your crowd, you know everyone’s cool,

Want to dance or talk, hoppin’ in and out of all the best o’ bars.

When the sun goes down you can find a place to lie down watching stars.

We’re no threat, people. We’re not rude and we’re not mean.

We love everybody, but we do as we please.

When the weather’s fine, we go fishing or go swimming in the sea.

We’re always happy, life’s for living, yeah that’s our philosophy.

Sing along with us, dee dee dee dee dee,

Dah do dah dah dah, yeah we’re hap-, happy

Dah dah dah…

When the winter’s here, yeah it’s party time,

Bring a bottle wear your bright clothes it’ll soon be summertime

And we’ll sing again, we’ll go driving or maybe we’ll settle down.

If you meet someone, bring your friends and we’ll all go into town.

Round "I like the flowers"

traditional

I like the flowers, I like the daffodils,

I like the mountains, I like the rolling hills,

I like the fireplace when the lights are low.

Dum dee dah dee, dum dee dah dee, dum dee dah dee, dum dee dah dee

Another one bites the dust

Queen

Steve walks warily down the street, with the brim pulled way down low

Ain't no sound but the sound of his feet; machine guns ready to go.

Are you ready? Hey, are you ready for this? Are you hanging on the edge of your seat?

Out of the doorway, the bullets rip to the sound of the beat, yeah

Another one bites the dust

Another one bites the dust

And another one gone, and another one gone

Another one bites the dust

Hey, I'm gonna get you, too, another one bites the dust

How do you think I'm gonna get along without you, when you're gone?

You took me for everything that I had and kicked me out on my own

Are you happy, are you satisfied? How long can you stand the heat?

Out of the doorway, the bullets rip to the sound of the beat

Another one bites the dust

Another one bites the dust

And another one gone, and another one gone

Another one bites the dust

Hey, I'm gonna get you too, another one bites the dust

[clap]

Another one bites the dust

Another one bites the dust

Another one bites the dust

Another one bites the dust

There are plenty of ways that you can hurt a man and bring him to the ground

You can beat him, you can cheat him, you can treat him bad and leave him when he's down,

But I'm ready, yes I'm ready for you, I'm standing on my own two feet

Out of the doorway, the bullets rip, repeating to the sound of the beat

Another one bites the dust

Another one bites the dust

And another one gone, and another one gone

Another one bites the dust, yeah

Hey, I'm gonna get you too, another one bites the dust

Rhythm of life

Dorothy Fields (t), Cy Coleman (m), from Sweet Charity

Hear the beat

feel the beat

in your body

in the street.

Yes the rhythm of life has a powerful beat

Puts a tingle in your fingers and a tingle in your feet

Rhythm in your body rhythm in the street

Yes the rhythm of life has a powerful beat

Bring me sunshine

Sylvia Dee (t), Arthur Kent (m)

Bring me sunshine – in your smile

Bring me laughter – all the while

In this world where we live, there should be more happiness.

So much joy you can give to each brand new bright tomorrow.

Make me happy – through the years

Never bring me – any tears

Let your arms be as warm as the sun from up above

Bring me fun, bring me sunshine, bring me Love.

Bring me sunshine – in your smile

Bring me laughter – all the while

In this world where we live, there should be more happiness.

So much joy you can give to each brand new bright tomorrow.

Make me happy – through the years

Never bring me – any tears

Let your arms be as warm as the sun from up above

Bring me fun, bring me sunshine, bring me Love.

Bring me sunshine – in your smile

Bring me laughter – all the while

In this world where we live, there should be more happiness.

So much joy you can give to each brand new bright tomorrow.

Make me happy – through the years

Never bring me – any tears

Let your arms be as warm as the sun from up above

Bring me fun, bring me sunshine,

Bring me Love, sweet Love.

Bring me fun, bring me sunshine, bring me Love.

Sunny side of the street

Dorothy Fields (t),  Jimmy McHugh (m)

Grab your coat, and get your hat

Leave your worry on the doorstep

Just direct your feet

To the sunny side of the street

Can't you hear a pitter-pat?

And that happy tune is your step

Life can be so sweet

On the sunny side of the street

I used to walk in the shade

With those blues on parade

But I'm not afraid

This rover crossed over

If I never have a cent

I'll be rich as Rockefeller

Gold dust at my feet

On the sunny side of the street

Doo, doo, doo…

I used to walk in the shade

With those blues on parade

But I'm not afraid

This rover crossed over

If I never have a cent

I'll be rich as Rockefeller

Gold dust at my feet

On the sunny side of the street

Don't Stop me now

Queen

INTRO

I'm a shooting star, leaping through the sky

Like a tiger defying the laws of gravity

I'm a racing car, passing by like Lady Godiva

I'm gonna go, go, go

There's no stopping me

I'm burnin' through the sky, yeah

Two hundred degrees

That's why they call me Mister Fahrenheit

I'm traveling at the speed of light

I wanna make a supersonic man out of you

Don’t stop me now – I'm having such a good time, I'm having a ball

Don’t stop me now – If you wanna have a good time, just give me a call

Don’t stop me now

Don’t stop me now

I don't want to stop at all, yeah

I'm a rocket ship on my way to Mars

On a collision course

I am a satellite, I'm out of control

I am a sex machine, ready to reload

Like an atom bomb

About to oh, oh, oh, oh, oh explode

I'm burnin' through the sky, yeah

Two hundred degrees

That's why they call me Mister Fahrenheit

I'm traveling at the speed of light

I wanna make a supersonic woman of you

BRIDGE & SOLO

Oh, I'm burnin' through the sky, yeah

Two hundred degrees

That's why they call me Mister Fahrenheit

I'm traveling at the speed of light

I wanna make a supersonic man out of you

Don’t stop me now – I'm having such a good time, I'm having a ball

Don’t stop me now – If you wanna have a good time, just give me a call

Don’t stop me now

Don’t stop me now

I don't want to stop at all
