Wild Mountain Thyme
(Will ye go Lassie go)
1. Oh, the summertime is coming
And the trees are sweetly bloomin’
And the wild mountain thyme
Grows around the blooming heather
Will ye go, lassie, go?
And we'll all go together
To pull wild mountain thyme
All around the blooming heather
Will ye go, lassie, go?
2. I will build my love a bower
By yon cool, crystal fountain
And round it, I will pile
All the flow’rs of the mountain
Will ye go, lassie, go?
And we'll all go together
To pull wild mountain thyme
All around the blooming heather
Will ye go, lassie, go?
3. I will range through the wilds
And the deep glen sae dreamy
And return wi’ the spoils
To the bower o’ my dearie
Will ye go, lassie, go?
And we'll all go together
To pull wild mountain thyme
All around the blooming heather
Will ye go, lassie, go?
4. If my true love she’ll not come
Then I’ll surely find another
To pull wild mountain thyme
All around the bloomin’ heather
Will ye go, lassie go?
And we'll all go together
To pull wild mountain thyme
All around the blooming heather
Will ye go, lassie, go?
Let No Man Steal Your Thyme
1. Come all ye fair and tender girls
That flourish in your prime
Beware, beware keep your garden fair
Let no man steal your thyme (2x)
2. For when your thyme it is past and gone
He'll care no more for you
and ev'ry place where your thyme was waste
will all spread o'er with rue (2x)
3. The gard'ners' son was standing by
Three flowers he gave to me
The pink, the blue and the violet true
And the red, red rosy tree (2x)
4. But I refused the red rose bush
And gained the willow tree
That all the world may plainly see
How my love slighted me (2x)

2. Gonna walk down that road of peace
Down by the riverside

Down by the riverside
Gonna walk down that road of peace
Down by the riverside

Gonna shake hands around the world
Down by the riverside

My Grandfather’s Clock
1. My grandfather's clock was too large for the shelf
So it stood ninety years on the floor
It was taller by half than the old man himself
Though it weighed not a pennyweight more
It was bought on the morn' of the day that he was born
And was always his treasure and pride
But it stopped, short never to go again
When the old man died
Ninety years without slumbering (tick, tock, tick, tock)
His life seconds numbering
It stopped, short never to go again
When the old man died
2. In watching its pendulum swing to and fro
Many hours he had spent when a boy
And through childhood and manhood, the clock seemed to know
And to share both his grief and his joy
For it struck 24 when he entered at the door
With a blooming and beautiful bride,
But it stopped, short, never to go again
When the old man died
Ninety years without slumbering (tick, tock, tick, tock)
His life seconds numbering
It stopped, short never to go again
When the old man died
3. It rang and alarmed in the dead of the night
An alarm that for years had been dumb
And we knew that his spirit was pluming for flight
That his hour for departure had come
Still the clock kept the time with a soft and muffled chime
As we silently stood by his side
But it stopped short, never to go again
When the old man died.
Danny Boy
Another one to enjoy and hum along to. But of course if you know the lyrics, no one can hold you back!
Greensleeves
1. Alas, my love, you do me wrong,
To cast me off discourteously.
For I have loved you well and long,
Delighting in your company.
Greensleeves was all my joy
Greensleeves was my delight,
Greensleeves was my heart of gold,
And who but my lady Greensleeves.
2. Your vows you've broken, like my heart,
Oh, why did you so enrapture me?
Now I remain in a world apart
But my heart remains in captivity.
Greensleeves was all my joy
Greensleeves was my delight,
Greensleeves was my heart of gold,
And who but my lady Greensleeves.
3. Thou couldst desire no earthly thing,
But still thou hadst it readily.
Thy music still to play and sing;
And yet thou wouldst not love me.
Greensleeves was all my joy
Greensleeves was my delight,
Greensleeves was my heart of gold,
And who but my lady Greensleeves.
4. Ah, Greensleeves, now farewell, adieu,
To God I pray to prosper thee,
For I am still thy lover true,
Come once again and love me.
Greensleeves was all my joy
Greensleeves was my delight,
Greensleeves was my heart of gold,
And who but my lady Greensleeves.
Oh how Lovely is the Evening
Oh how lovely is the evening, —
When the bells are sweetly ringing, —
Ding, dong, ding, dong, ding, dong [Repeat]

Wild Rover
1. I've been a wild rover for many's the year
And I spent all me money on whiskey and beer
And now I'm returning with gold in great store
And I never will play the wild rover no more
And it's no, nay, never!
No, nay never no more
Will I play the wild rover
No never no more!
2. I went to an alehouse I used to frequent
I told the landlady my money was spent
I ask her for credit, she answered me “nay
Such a custom as yours I can have any day.”
And it's no, nay, never!
No, nay never no more
Will I play the wild rover
No never no more!
3. I pulled from me pocket a handful of gold
And on the round table it glittered and rolled.
She said “I have whiskeys and wines of the best
And the words that you told me were only in jest.”
And it's no, nay, never!
No, nay never no more
Will I play the wild rover
No never no more!
4. I’ll have none of your whiskeys nor fine Spanish wines
For your words show you clearly as no friend of mine.
There’s others most willing to open a door
To a man coming home from a far distant shore.
And it's no, nay, never!
No, nay never no more
Will I play the wild rover
No never no more!
Bound for South Australia
1. In South Australia I was born,
Heave away, haul away,
South Australia ’round Cape Horn,
We’re bound for South Australia.
Heave away, you rolling king
Heave away, haul away
Heave away, oh hear me sing
We’re bound for South Australia
2. As I walked out one morning fair
Heave away, haul away,
’Twas there I met Miss Nancy Blair
We’re bound for South Australia.
Heave away, you rolling king
Heave away, haul away
Heave away, oh hear me sing
We’re bound for South Australia
3. There ain’t but one thing grieves my mind
Heave away, haul away
To leave Miss Nancy Blair behind
We’re bound for South Australia
Heave away, you rolling king
Heave away, haul away
Heave away, oh hear me sing
We’re bound for South Australia
4. Oh when I sailed across the sea
Heave away, haul away
My girl said she’d be true to me
We’re bound for South Australia
Heave away, you rolling king
Heave away, haul away
Heave away, oh hear me sing
We’re bound for South Australia

Earlye in the morning.
Hoo-ray and up she rises (3x)
Earlye in the morning.
2. Put him in the long-boat ‘til he’s sober (3x)
Earlye in the morning.
Hoo-ray and up she rises (3x)
Earlye in the morning.
3. Put him in the scuppers with a hose-pipe on him (3x)
Earlye in the morning.
Hoo-ray and up she rises (3x)
Earlye in the morning.
All around my Hat
Let yourself enjoy the Union Chapel Singers singing this one for you.
Spanish Ladies
1. Farewell and adieu to you fair Spanish ladies,
Farewell and adieu to you ladies of Spain,
For we’ve received orders for to sail for old England,
But we hope in a short time to see you again.
We will rant and we’ll roar, like true British sailors,
We’ll rant and we’ll roar all on the salt seas,
Unill we strike soundings in the Channel of Old England,
From Ushant to Scilly is thirty-five leagues.
2. We hove our ship to with the wind from sou’west, boys
We hove our ship to, deep soundings to take
’Twas forty five fathoms with a white sandy bottoms
So we squared our main yard and up channel did make.
We will rant and we’ll roar, like true British sailors,
We’ll rant and we’ll roar all on the salt seas,
Unill we strike soundings in the Channel of Old England,
From Ushant to Scilly is thirty-five leagues.
3. The first land we sighted was called the Dodman,
Next Rame Head off Plymouth, off Portsmouth the Wight;
We sailed by Beachy, by Fairlight and Dover,
And then we bore up for the South Foreland light.
We will rant and we’ll roar, like true British sailors,
We’ll rant and we’ll roar all on the salt seas,
Unill we strike soundings in the Channel of Old England,
From Ushant to Scilly is thirty-five leagues.
4. Then the signal was made for the grand fleet to anchor,
And all in the Downs that night for to lie;
Let go your shank painter, let go your cat stopper!
Haul up your clewgarnets, let tacks and sheets fly
We will rant and we’ll roar, like true British sailors,
We’ll rant and we’ll roar all on the salt seas,
Unill we strike soundings in the Channel of Old England,
From Ushant to Scilly is thirty-five leagues.
5. Now let ev'ry man drink off his full bumper,
And let ev'ry man drink off his full glass;
We'll drink and be jolly and drown melancholy,
And here's to the health of each true-hearted lass.
We will rant and we’ll roar, like true British sailors,
We’ll rant and we’ll roar all on the salt seas,
Unill we strike soundings in the Channel of Old England,
From Ushant to Scilly is thirty-five leagues.
The Female Drummer
The Union Chapel Singers will sing for you this story of the brave female drummer, who ran away at sixteen to join the army, dressed as a man. Join in for the drumming!
Sloop John B
1. We come on the sloop John B
My grandfather and me
Around Nassau town we did roam
Drinking all night
Got into a fight
I feel so lonely, I wanna to go home
So hoist up the John B's sail
See how the main sail sets
And call for the captain ashore, let me go home
I wanna go home
I wanna go home
I feel so broke up, I wanna go home
2. The first mate, he got drunk
And broke in the captain's trunk
The constable had to come and take him away
Sheriff John Stone, why don't you leave me alone?
I feel so broke up, I wanna go home.
So hoist up the John B's sail
See how the main sail sets
And call for the captain ashore, let me go home
I wanna go home
I wanna go home
I feel so broke up, I wanna go home
3. The poor cook, he caught the fits
And threw away all my grits
And then he took and he ate up all of my corn
Let me go home, why don't they let me go home?
This is the worst trip I've ever been on!
If I Had a Hammer
1. If I had a hammer
I'd hammer in the morning
I'd hammer in the evening
All over this land
I'd hammer out danger
I'd hammer out a warning
I'd hammer out love between my brothers and my sisters
All over this land, Ooh
2. If I had a bell
I'd ring it in the morning
I'd ring it in the evening
All over this land
I'd ring out danger
I'd ring out a warning
I'd ring about the love between my brothers and my sisters
All, all over this land, Ooh
3. If I had a song
I'd sing it in the morning
I'd sing it in the evening
All over this land
I'd sing out danger
I'd sing out a warning, yeah
I'd sing out about the love between my brothers and my sisters
All, all over this land, Ooh
4. Well, I've got a hammer
And I've got a bell
And I've got a song to sing
All over this land
It's the hammer of justice
It's the bell of freedom
It's the song of love between my brothers and my sisters
All, all over this land.
